Similar to an earworm, an earwabbit is a pop bastardization of an established song that ruins the experience of the original song by making it impossible to hear the original without thinking of the substitute. It is named after perhaps the best-known example of an earwabbit: Elmer Fudd’s ruining Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries” with “Kill the WAB-bit.”
The term earwabbit was coined by columnist and writer Rod Dreher.
