Thesaurus maxing

Thesaurus maxing refers to the action of employing the use of overly verbose vocabulary: usually within the context of an exam essay, in an effort to make oneself appear more intelligent. Though usually practiced during exams, thesaurusmaxing is sometimes also used in common parlance, usually by those who lack sufficient confidence in their own intelligence and hence need it to be validated by other people.
