Miatic 

Describing a paradoxical situation in which, when faced with a grave existential threat, people or groups begin turning on one another instead of uniting — even though collective cooperation is the only viable path to survival.

Example (adj.):
"The climate summit turned into a miatic mess — countries blaming each other instead of collaborating on a solution."

Example (noun):
"As the asteroid approached, the world fell into a miatic — chaos, mistrust, and denial, when unity could have saved everyone."
