A city in North-Holland, the Netherlands with around 110.000 inhabitants. Known to foreigners for being 'the small city outside of Amsterdam with the cute cheese market'. Lots of Asians and Germans flock there in the summer for cheese and beaches.

Friend 1: "I'm gonna go to Alkmaar next week"
Friend 2: "Nice! Can you bring me some cheese?"
