a verb; meaning to try something new or out of the ordinary during the first half of a marathon that will most likely cause yourself distress and a less than desirable outcome of the race.

"Jane was so well trained for that marathon, but she ruined her own chances of qualifying for Boston by Ilging at mile 8; she couldn't resist trying that new Carboom! flavor which she had never had before!"
