PEY Creator

A YouTuber or influencer who operates a PEY channel (An acronym for Private Equity YouTube, pronounced exactly like "pay"). This usually refers to two types of people:

1) An original founder who sold their channel to a private equity firm and is now forced to read corporate-approved scripts.
2) A "hired gun" or actor brought in by a corporation to act as the relatable face of a channel they own.
I used to trust his movie reviews, but he’s just a PEY creator now. He just pushes whatever sponsors the parent company tells him to.

An acronym for Private Equity YouTube (pronounced exactly like "pay"). It refers to YouTube channels or networks that have been acquired, funded, or taken over by private equity firms. It describes the shift from authentic, creator-driven videos to highly sanitized, algorithm-chasing, corporate content where making money is the only incentive.
Person A: "Did you see their new video? The editing is super flashy but it feels so soulless now."

Person B: "Yeah, the channel is totally PEY now. It's basically just a corporate asset."
