Anything in Zelda that causes you to go from full hearts to less than full hearts, such that you lose the ability to shoot your laser sword.
Typically its the root of the cause on screen, and you yell at it. It could be a boomerang or one of those little jellies that come out of the big jellies and wiggle into you unexpectedly or those ass-bastard heads that pop out of the water to shoot flaming balls into your chin while you're trying to find secrets.
