numpty

Someone who sells a share a long way before its true value has been realised. Usually because they're panicked by a temporary fall in the market. Always relates to a private investor, and a specialised definition of numpty is when institutional investors are buying, but the private investors (the numpties) are selling.
'Look at that numpty who sold pre-market. He's been spooked by the market-makers.'
