Van Horned

When one says something depressing that brings the whole crowd down. Usually, a crowd is laughing and having fun, then the individual makes a sad or self depreciating comment that leaves everyone speechless or nervously laughing, while keeping a straight face.

"Man, that was a hilarious joke!"
"Almost as hilarious as my pending divorce."
*frozen smiles and awkward chuckles
