The blending of civil governance and the entertainment industry that yields politicians:
more concerned about how they're trending
less focused on what they were elected to do
incapable of thought beyond the sound-byte
believing:
they know what's in the public's best interest
that bad publicity is better than no publicity
that they are members of an elite class that must be provided benefits above those around them.
This ultimately leads to politicians becoming actors and far worse, actors becoming politicians while still engaged in their prior profession.
