Australian jail lingo - used to refer to a prisoner with a big-mouth. Having a reputation as a pelican, or calling someone a pelican, usually ends up in someone being stabbed.

In Australian parlance, particularly in Sydney & New South Wales crime circles, coey means co-offender. Used interchangeably with mate, or 5-8.
