Basically welfare with less steps. The idea is that everyone gets a set income without any conditions or requirements, it is proposed as a way to ensure everyone has their basic human needs met. The overreaching economic impact is often brushed aside.

Universal basic income should've solved poverty in the inner city, but the residents spend all their newly acquired wealth on Jordans and chains.
