Meet it

The phrase 'meet it' is sometimes shouted in Sunday league football matches by a team's coach or manager. It is shouted when a goal kick or clearance is in the air and going towards a player, the player is then obliged to head or kick the ball anywhere because letting the ball bounce in Sunday league football is almost a death wish.

" Meet it!!!" *player then slices the ball out of play*
"Why didn't you meet it? We lost because of that counter attack."

An adjective used to describe a person who has a lean yet muscular build.

Generally, football (soccer) players are wiry.

A public figure who is loved by a relatively small group. Not necessarily successful.

Emile Heskey became a cult hero later in his career due to his lack of goals and comical misses.

Machine

Someone who tirelessly completes a task without stopping. They just get the job done. Usually used in sports. Similar to a beast or tank.

Man, that dude just ran in a straight line through the defence and scored without stopping. What a machine.
