Someone who considers themselves rather special. A snowflake with more than a hint of maverick pretensions propping them up. Often politicians who consider themselves quite unique and gifted.

Hell, look at that outlier taking that massive new wave way out in the Bay! He's been riding waves since pre-school. He can't read or write good, but he sure can ride the surf.

secessionist 

A person who isn't happy with the established order and is obsessed with revisiting a time when they imagine life was better. Often relating to Jacobean times when Scots believed the Stuarts promised nirvana and a utopian ideal. Currently the Stuarts have been replaced by Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP.

The secessionists reckon anyone who disputes their cause is a mere quisling, a misguided twat.
