demoligion

1) A form of public discourse that fuses religious language with popular opinion, leading to confusion between religious and political speech in the public square.

2) The damage that occurs to a religious tradition or to public discourse over policy when the two are fused.
1) The baseball commentator committed demoligion when he covered the time-out with a religious rant about men's God-given authority over women.

2) The outrage over the building of a mosque neglected the Bill of Rights and the doctrines of tawhid and human solidarity, causing demoligion of civil discourse and public perceptions of Islam and Christianity.
