“Mine-Spec” (Australian slang, derogatory) A person who looks heavily equipped, qualified, or important, but is ultimately ineffective and impractical. Named after mine-spec utes: overloaded with safety gear, flashing lights, stickers, and compliance features, yet often useless for actual work, and a full crew cab, yet fitted with a tray too small to carry anything useful.

A sarcastic description for someone all image, policy, and self-importance, but lacking actual capability or substance.

Usually describes someone who is weak, lazy, overconfident, politically union aligned, or leftist, disloyal, or riding on the efforts of others while acting indispensable. A walking symbol of bureaucracy, rules-for-the-sake-of-rules, and performative competence.

Closely related to the workplace terms; “hero,” “big-job,” “useless cunt,” “big-noter,” “clipboard warrior,” or “hard charger” - people who perform importance instead of producing results. All image, no substance. Often Meth users.

because it makes them feel important they wear hi-vis on weekends or while they're not working, because they can't keep a job.
"Look at this fuckin’ mine-spec big-job, He's all hat, no cattle. Bloke’s got enough stickers, radios and safety glasses to launch a space mission, but couldn’t organise a root in a brothel without six meetings and a procedural document".

“I’d love to watch this mine-spec fucktard spend five minutes in the real world, but he’d probably stop halfway through to explain the approved procedure for breathing and demand a pre-start meeting before opening a gate.”
