When you take an aloe plant and break it open, letting the aloe seep out from the cracks. Instead of applying it to the skin, you let it pour into your everyday Nalgene bottle, and let's be real, everyone has one. Only after you pour the aloe into the Nalgene can you directly apply it to your sunburned region. Why is it best to let the aloe sit in a Nalgene before application? Well, to put it simply, I don't see why not.
