A pornographic magazine typically with photographic images of naked ladies found new on the top shelf of newsagents managed by broad minded retailers or found second hand in waste ground. Phrase was mostly used by teenage boys in 1980s when speaking of said genre of magazine or also be used as a term to chastise their friends. The term is of Glaswegian origin and perhaps used exclusively in Scotland.

The taking in turns to purchase food snacks, e.g. crisps, nuts, pork scratchings, for your friends at the pub to keep their hunger at bay whilst they have a number of alcoholic beverages on an evening out. Seldom will it be anyone's responsibility to buy a normal round (of drinks) and a 'dry round' at the same juncture, although this is optional for those who are particularly generous or those trying to curry favour with their drinking companions. Not to be confused with a 'dry ride' which is something different entirely. Beware of confusing the two phrases when being served by a large chested, attractive barmaid.
I am thoroughly enjoying this pint of beer but tell me fellas who's turn is it to buy a dry round?
