Clearing the Chamber 

When someone farts in the car and you roll down the windows. Like a bullet that has been taken out of the chamber of a pistol, the fart can no longer hurt anyone.

"Oh, my god, Aaron just ripped shit."

"Clear the chamber! Clear the chamber!"

The person who rolls the windows down is clearing the chamber.

farting at a fan 

1) Harming one's self, usually unintentionally or without knowledge of doing so. 2) Similar to saying "you are only hurting yourself." 3) Similar to phrase "shooting yourself in the foot."

Fred: "I got really annoyed at work today, so I told my boss to shut up."

Andy: "That's just farting at a fan, man."

play on phrase "working hard"; meaning one who works hard but stupidly, and thus gets unsatisfying results.

"I bust my ass and only make thirty-two-thousand bucks a year."
