Whack meaning to hit, and job, meaning to work. Whackjob is hitting something or someone. Not to be confused with Wackjob, from "Wacky" meaning crazy, loonie or insane, and job meaning 'a real piece of work' (or messed up.)
He's a wackjob with a whackjob. He's a psychiatrist who is crazy and yet gives sane people shock treatments to "cure" them.
