Usually by over stating intention of purchase quantity in order to secure a lower price on a small order.
"I Alibaba'd them and got a great deal."

Buyer: "What's the best price you can give me on 100,000 units?"
Seller: "On 100,000 we can do $2 a unit"
Buyer: "Great, I'll need 100 at that price as a sample"
