Jap

A slang term meaning a car or motor vehicle. The word is believed to derive from jalopy, with the pronunciation gradually shortened over time. It originated in Botswana and the North West province of South Africa (particularly Mafikeng) and was popularised through student culture, especially among ISSA and MAP students. Today, it is commonly used in casual conversation to refer to any car, regardless of its make, model, or condition.
