A Webliography, according to the accepted definition, is an enumerative list of hypertext links and a gateway to the scientific sources of information on the Net, whether annotated or not. Webliographies are in fact digital equivalents of bibliographies (printed lists of information sources). Bibliographies are secondary sources among print media and Webliographies are the same on the Net.

Webliometrics is a type of research method that can be used in LIS. It has the capability of utilising quantitative analysis and statistics to describe patterns of publication within a given webliography or body of webliographies. Researchers may use webliometric methods of evaluation, for example, to determine the influence of a single webliographer or describe the relationship between two or more webliographers or webliographies. In other words, understanding and assessing interdisciplinary topics and trends can be carried out among webliographies using webliometrics.
Webliometrics may well also emerge as an important item in the syllabi of LIS research methods courses.
