A British play on abbreviation: The Royal Air Force (The air force in Britain). When shouted in a bar means "Rough As Fuck" as in:

(1) Oh my God - look at the state of those women - R.A.F.
(2) Watch out boys - the R.A.F. are here...

Originally Northern Irish, this expression shows confusion. As in:

(1) I'm so drunk I don't know if I need a shit or a haircut!
(2) What the fuck are you talking about?! You don't know if you need a shit or a haircut!
