Begend (noun)

A moment that is simultaneously a beginning and an ending; the point where one phase of time closes and another opens, existing briefly in the same instant.

A begend is the threshold between past and future, where the end of something becomes the start of something else.

Origin:
The word was coined by musician Matt Martin while writing the song “Begend” with the band Stilts from the album Sideways. The word emerged from a slurred blending of “beginning” and “end” during an altered perception of time, where moments felt like still images passing between past and future.
1. “Graduation felt like a begend—the end of childhood and the beginning of everything else.”
2. “When the last note faded into silence, it was a perfect begend.”
3. “Moving to a new city was a begend for her life.”
