doomajon (n.) — A fleeting moment of overconfident enthusiasm that strikes right before you attempt something you’re only mostly sure you can do — like fixing a wobbly shelf with “just one more screw” or pouring a drink without looking. A doomajon usually lasts three seconds and is followed by either mild triumph or a small, teachable disaster.
Fueled by a sudden doomajon, I decided I could move the entire bookcase by myself—an idea I reconsidered about halfway through the doorway.
