Noun

Someone who is a beginner at something, either a sport, class, or passion. Typically someone named Daniel or Danny -- for example, Daniel Craig is a neophyte at anything but playing James Bond.

After missing all of the 367 three point shots he took during games and practices, Danny was known as a neophyte at basketball.
