The name given to Nintendo Corporation's game console from Revolution. Pronounced in english "wee", marketing reasons by Nintendo prompted the name change.
Wii will change the world.
by JPWRana April 28, 2006
The new name for Nintendo's new console gaming system, formerly called the Nintendo Revolution.

After the name was announced, it was met with much criticism and opposition from the gaming community (who, within a day of the announcement, came up with many clever satirical faux-logos for the console's new name).

Pronunciation: wee
1. "I'm bored. I'm gonna go play with my Wii."
2. "My Wii is my favorite toy."
3. "Excuse me, electronics store worker guy, can you open that case for me? I'd like to take a Wii."
4. "Wiiiiiiiiiiii!"

We whould go play some red steel on my new Wii
by King Pendragon April 28, 2006
This is the new name for the highly-accliamed Nintendo Revolution. It's meant to symbolise togetherness (as it's pronouced 'we) as well as 'ii' meaning 'good' in Japanese.
However, it's Nintendo seeing how far it can push us before we just jump-ship and drown.
"Hey. Wanna come over and play with my Wii?"
"I can't wait till Autumn when I can finally have a Wii"

1) The official name of the new Nintendo Console. Previously known by its codename, Revolution.

The official name of the Nintendo Revolution.
Introducing... Wii.
As in "we."
While the code-name Revolution expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that separates videogame players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?
Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.
Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people playing it. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of videogames that sets it apart from the crowd.
So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because it's really not about you or me. It's about Wii. And together, Wii will change everything.
