Sometimes compared to the Japanese ‘Oni’, a troll is a supernatural creature of Scandinavian folklore, whose race was thought to have carried massive stones into the countryside (although actually the result of glaciers). Lives in hills, mountains, caves, or under bridges. They are stupid, large, brutish, hairy, long-nosed, and bug-eyed, and may also have multiple heads or horns. Trolls love to eat people, especially small children.

A troll in the sense of an internet troll has many different meanings. Not all trolls go to a message board and spam it with flames, racism, and Goatse
before getting banned 5 minutes later. Trolling is a hobby in the same vein as prank phone calls, and the true objective of trolling is to be clever and creative in getting a reaction out of the troll victims.
Skilled trolls especially like trolling large-scale websites such as MySpace
where it is harder to get banned. Trolling a site such as GameFAQs
is more difficult, as the TOS
is very strict and the moderators are harder on trolls.
Common victims of trolls: liberals
, gay rights activists
, harry potter
Skilled trolls from LJ: heavenablaze, gunlord, oni+, omg_a_terrorist, bloodlent, abcuqrc, chessnut1134

Do not try to reason with them that they do for they will tear your scapula out with a rusty spoon.

Troll sat alone on his seat of stone…
A despicable person on a message board that deliberately tries to get everyone pissed off. Usually, they write in capital letters and make outrageous topics to get a rise out of everyone. Many times, trolls will be regulars but cannot be identified because they make new Screen Names, usually these new Screen Names are named after the topic they're trolling about. Either way, trolls should never be responded too, because theyll just use insults or useless arguments, and you'll never win by arguing with a troll.
Don't ever feed the trolls on a message board.
