To establish something, put something into order, or to set up something (new).
A neologism as a result of a common error when translating from
Hungarian to English, creating a
quasi-literal translation of the Hungarian word "statuál" (from the
Latin "statuere" or "statutum", meaning 'to set up, to raise, to order, to judge').
Commonly used in the phrase "to statuate an example" ("példát statuál", meaning "make an example of").
"Was he late again?"
"Yes. I think it's time we statuated some new rules."
"Why did you include this?"
"To statuate an example. If people can add stupid
shit like "himbo" to the
dictionary, without ever bothering to look up that there was a proper term for a male
bimbo, then so can I!"
