Agnostic Satanist

Someone who is both Agnostic and a Satanist

Unsure what to believe in (a god/devil, angels, demons, ghosts, magic/spells, ect.) An Agnostic Satanist does not follow the laws of Christianity, but rather the laws of Satanism.
They do not worship any higher power, though they may somewhat believe in one.

Green Apple Satanists

People that worship the only real evil in the world, Green apple Jolly Rancher water flavoring. This group of people are the worst of the worst, more horrible than regular Satanists and the KKK combined.
Guy one: hey, have you heard of the Green Apple Satanists?

Guy two: stay away from them! They'll sacrifice then eat your new born

Satanist

An adherent of any form of Satanism, a broad category of religions and worldviews all involving a favorable interpretation of "Satan." The most public form of Satanism is LaVeyan Satanism, which does not believe in or worship Satan as an actual entity, but instead sees Satan as a symbol of independence, individuality, etc. Since the late 1990's, thanks to the Internet, Satanism had diversified quite a bit. There are now more and more theistic Satanists, who do revere Satan as a deity - in most cases also associating Satan with independence, individuality, etc. Most do not see Satan as "evil" except in an ironic sense.
Many Christians have wrongly assumed that Pagans and even atheists are Satanists, who in turn are wrongly assumed to be violent criminals.

Satanist

Free thinkers, people who can think for themselves and have faith within themselves instead of putting their lives into the hands of someone who no one knows if they really exsist.
They don't worship satan or god...or any higher power...they worship themselves...they believe they are their own god and that they are responsible for their own actions.
I'm not a slave to a god that doesn't exsist!

satanist

The satanic church was started in the 60's by Anton LaVey, so logic would follow that he would be able to define a satanist better than Oprah or whoever hosts Dateline or 20/20. A satanist doesn't believe in god or satan. A satanist is an atheist that believes people should be responsible for their actions.

Satanism itself addresses problems it finds with Judeo-Christian beliefs. They find that telling one's children that they should behave correctly not because its the decent thing to do but because some ridiculous land of fire will make their 'afterlife' really shitty is poor parenting.

The reason why satanists are thought of as scary people in black coats that sacrifice goats and abduct children springs from 2 sources. The first is sensationalist media outlets like Oprah and Dateline and 20/20 and all the daytime talk shows.

The second is the real reason why people believe these shows and thats the tendency of Christians to need to find evil where it doesn't exist. Christians themselves tend to be egotistical (because they only follow their faith when convenient) and like to feel more pious and self-righteous by creating an evil boogeyman that doesn't exist so they can blame society's decay on them.
Christian douchebag: Yeah so this little kid has gone missing, its gotta be the Satanists.

Non-idiot: Hmm, or it could be just a regular criminal.

Christian douchebag: No! Satanists ruin everything. Satanists make me ignore my faith by beating the hell out of my wife and sleeping with my secretary! Its okay though, as long as I go to church a lot and tell god I'm sorry for beating up my wife I'm good. Loopholes are great.

Satanist

The word "Satan" comes from the Hebrew word "sataan" and the Arabic word "shaitan", both of which mean "adversary". It became popular during the medieval era and was used to refer to members of society who failed to conform to what was acceptable at the time. For example, people who behaved aggressively or inappropriately in public were referred to as Satan. Because of the definition and usage of it, the term was adopted into Christianity to refer to the devil. Due to the slight change in definition, the practice of saying social undesirables were Satan changed to accusing them of being devil worshipers or Satanists.

The word "Satanist" is no longer associated to worshiping the devil--not among younger generations anyway. It now refers to people who are aggressively atheist. The reason for this is that some people who are pressured about religion get very defensive about their choices. The result is some extremely hostile and adversarial behavior. Satanists are opposed to organized religion and feel that people should make their own decisions in their lives.

Satanists use Satanic terminology in reference to the Hebrew word for adversary, not the Christian word for the devil.
The word "Satanist" comes from the Hebrew and Arabic words for "adversary" and refers to a specific type of atheist philosophy.
