Example: -
Person 1: - It's your choice but would you like to take your brothers and sisters out to the shops or the park.
Person 2: - '*thinks* "well I wasn't planning to take them, but you'll moan if I don't :| err empty choices Oo"' the parks fine.
Person 1: - Great, well it's your choice remember...
Person 2: - *Sigh* yup :/

From the novel and film of the same name, an impossibly difficult choice, especially when forced onto someone. The choice is between two unbearable options, and it's essentially a no-win situation.
"Sophie's Choice" is centered on a scene in Auschwitz where Sophie has just arrived with her ten-year old son and her seven-year old daughter and a sadistic doctor, presumably Doctor Mengele, tells her that she can only bring one of her children; one will be allowed to live while the other is to be killed.
As a mother, Sophie adores both of her children and can't make this agonizing choice... until several soldiers force her and she hastily gives her daughter to them, sobbing as they take her little girl away.

People make all kinds of interesting choices in life--some lead to spectacular, unbelievable success, while others end in crushing, hopeless defeat. Regardless of the results, NOBODY wants to make the dumb-choice--a choice made with casual abandon, zero consideration for consequence and high-misery outcome probability.
Check it out. This guy's got it FUCKIN' MADE. Got the supportive family, private school education; cars, boats, exotic vacations, lotsa ladies...then he goes and makes the dumb-choice. The world then transforms into a very different place, unrecognizable from his previous life. He has no legal tender, no credit, no place to live and no options...HE'S FUCKED HIMSELF.
