1. An object thought to have magical, especially magically sexual, powers
2. A sexual fixation or obsession with a usually non-sexual object. EX. socks, horses, monkeys, pain, bondage
Holy shit those socks really get me turned on because of this sock fetish of mine. *Rubs socks on body*
Having an extreme fixation, usually sexually satisfying on something.
The banker who died swimming in the bottom of an outhouse had a shit fetish.
1. A worshipped object that is usually believed to possess magical powers. Usually associated with shamans.
2. (The good one) A sexual fixation(s) that usually differs from those of the standard population. In other words, something (sometimes totally unrelated to sex) that turns you on and that isn't enjoyed by the majority of people.
Foot fetishes, Infantilism, Vore, Macro, Furry, Vampirism, Necro, Bondage, Sadism, Masochism, Slavery... The sky's the limit
Something that satisfies your needs in a sexual way or in other words, the act of doing something that turns you on.
I got a fetish for being handcuffed to the bed while being sucked away by a girl.
Having a proclivity for something in a sexual way- especially something not inherently sexual. Examples: latex, rubber, spanking, specific smell/odor, dangerous situations, etc. A fetish can often heighten sexual satisfaction or even become obsessive and needed to reach sexual satisfaction. A good fetish is like a good woman: once you find one, you will quickly tire of it/her.
The fetish of one person for people with amputations was as sick as anything I had ever heard.
An adult in a diaper and sucking on a pacifier is a real turn-on fetish for me.
A new, broader spectrum, definition of a classically defined word.
A fetish in this case is one of two things;
Either, an enjoyment of any deviance from societies percieved normal, of any nature.
Or an over-enjoyment, over-indulgence in something which is widely accepted as a normal within defined limits.
Or an action which is performed above and beyond normally expected limits, in any circumstances.
Over-enjoyment "Dude, you like your new xbox 360 WAY too much, i didn't see it before, but you've got a fetish"
Action beyond normal limits "That was some FETISH goal man, screamer from way outside the box!!!"
Enjoyment of deviance "Marriage? at our age? You've got some kind of fetish for weddings!"
Over-indulgence "2 Tubs of Ben and Jerrys ice-cream straight!? You've got a fetish mate"
It is only a fetish if all of the following apply:
A) It is sexual in nature. Having an interest in something because it is pretty or beautiful or is pleasant to the five senses does not automatically make it sexual. It is only sexual if it causes sexual thoughts and physical arousal.
B) It is the ONLY thing that can turn you on. If you are turned on by other things as well then it is an interest, NOT a fetish.
Since feet seem to be the dominant fetish I will use them for the example. Note: "normal" refers to the societal norms for what people are "supposed" to be turned on by to the exclusion of all else.
Beautiful, attractive woman is relaxing on the beach:
Man 1: Is aroused by her breasts, butt and feet.
Man 2: Is aroused only by her feet and ignores her breasts and/or butt.
Man 3: Notices and stares at her feet, but is not aroused.
Man 1: Does NOT have a fetish because he is interested in and aroused by the "normal" parts, as well as by her feet.
Man 2: Has a fetish because he was NOT interested in and aroused by the "normal" things. He was ONLY interested in and aroused by her feet.
Man 3: Does NOT have a fetish and is NOT even being sexual. He just appreciates and admires the beauty of what he sees.
