Daytona Beach Shores 

Opposite of Daytona Beach. A classy, well to do, upscale section of Volusia County not to be confused with tourist trap Daytona Beach and it's local scum. Daytona Beach Shores is home to many retirees and very wealthy families. Many of the residents in the shores don't travel north into Daytona Beach. Instead, they choose to stay in their comfort zones of Ponce Inlet , Port Orange and the Shores where the houses and restaurants are expensive.

"My boyfriend lives in Daytona Beach shores. Not just Daytona!" Really!? does he have a bother?!

"Let's go to Daytona for Christmas!" Okay, but can we at least get a hotel in the shores with the rich people?

short bench 

A term used typically to describe a team of people consisting of fewer than the usual number attributed to that group. It can be applied to any similar situation.

Derived largely from the hockey world where players sit on a "bench" when not playing (see benched) and occasionally field a team with fewer teammates than ideally necessary, either due to players not showing up for the game or by the coach's decision.

Hockey:
Even though our playoff finals were on a holiday weekend, we won our championship game despite the short bench.

Other:
Due to the last long weekend, we have a short bench at our beach house this coming weekend.
