A skoal troll is one of your buddies who chews tobacco but never has a can of his own. He is constantly begging for a dip and always says that he will give you a dip tomorrow. This goes on for weeks until you buddy is deemed a skoal troll.

To take something small, that doesn't quite qualify as a theft. Probably from the Danish "skæv" or the Dutch "scheef", both of which are pronounced similarly, meaning "askew, or not quite right'. To change an item's ownership without permission, but only something small and of little worth.
