Cell Phone

The thing of the past.

Today, pocket-sized computers that have (mostly) the same functions of a regular-sized desktop or laptop computer can do; i.e. read, write, surfing the web, look at the time and keeping time, listening to music, gaming (not the high-detail games like Skyrim, Call of Duty and such), e-mailing, etc.

The best feature these pocket-sized computers are well known for are the ability to call and text just like a cell phone, except a little more "modern". These are called "Smartphones".
Girl (on her 12th birthday): "YAAY! SOO excited! I got my first phone! I can't wait to show it to my friends at school!"

(The next day at school):

Girl: Hey, do you like my new cell phone? I got it got my birthday, yesterday."

Friend of Girl: "What is that ugly thing?? *scoff* You call that a phone? What is this, the 90's? Get a real phone like mine" *holds up a slim, shiny, new smartphone*

Girl: That's not a phone, that's a pocket sized computer!"

Friend of Girl: "Oh, true, but mine's still better than yours. Mine's the shit, yours is.... shit"

cell loop

Where person 'A' makes a cell phone call to person 'B', gets their voice mail, begins to leave a message. Meanwhile person 'B' sees the missed call, phones person 'A' from THEIR cell, and gets person 'A's voice mail, leaving a message to call them back. meanwhile, Person 'A' finishes the message for person 'B', see's that they have missed a call from person 'B' and call them back, only to get the voice mail again, because person 'B' is doing the same... the cycle continues as long as the participants do not pause to let the other person through.

It took Jane and me forever to get out of that cell loop until I finally just put the phone down and waited for her to call.

I'm TRYING to call to get through to them so they don't miss the highway exit, but we're stuck in this damn cell loop!!

cell phone-itis

A socio/psychological condition characterized by ones inability to stop talking on their cell phone; commonly unable to turn their cell phone off; often and especially in enviornments that are not appropriate for personal phone conversing. This condition is often associated with a deeper emotional/psychological/spiritual condition of vacuousness and refered to in 12 step recovery parlance as chataholic.
So I drive my car over to La Beedo's to give him a ride to the gig and within 30 seconds his cell phone goes off. He answers the call without missing a beat, and yammers away about about Suzie, Sally and Sam, from 168th St. all the way to 96th. When he hangs up, I start to ask him a question and his phone goes off again. He tells me "hold on, I need to get this", and dives back into his fucking babble-bubble. I picked him up the next night and the same thing happened. Seems like he may have a serious case of cell phone-itis.

cell-phonie

Basically a person that you see walking down the street that feels the need carry on a fake conversation on their cell phone due to the fact that they are by themselves and want people to think that they are on some important mission or need to be somewhere.
Me and Rebecca were heading to the bar last week and saw Jessica walking down the street by herself, talking on her cell phone. What a cell-phonie she is.
