block heater

A device that attaches to the engine block of one's vehicle that when plugged into an electrical socket with a plug heats up the engine and keeps the oil warm. Used in any part of the world where the temperature drops below freezing.

The block heater keeps the engine warm and allows it to easily start even at extremely cold temperatures. It is usually seen as an electrical cord sticking out from under the hood of a car in Canada or the states that border Canada.

This device warms the engine, not the interior of the car.

Herb: It's gonna be cold tonight.

Bob: Better plug in your block heater or your car won't start tomorrow!

The Canadian version of doc in a box. A medical clinic that is usually associated with a group of general practice doctors that offer this free additional service without scheduled appointments. They offer all the basic services of an ER (stitches, shots, prescriptions, sick notes, etc. ) without the need for a hospital staff.

The dude stabbed me with a fork, I better go the walk in clinic and get a tetanus shot.

interior heater

A device that is placed of one's vehicle that when plugged into an electrical socket with a plug heats up the interior of the car like a small space heater. Used in any part of the world where the temperature drops below freezing.

The interior heater can have a timer and be set to come on or keep the car warm even at extremely cold temperatures. It is usually seen as an electrical cord sticking out from under the hood of a car in Canada or the states that border Canada.

It was really cold last night, but my car was toasty warm because I had the interior heater on.
