When a powerful institution or major company uses woke rhetoric around diversity and inclusion to deflect criticism of their actions or to appear less elitist than they actually are. A portmanteau of "woke" and "smokescreen."
When asked about civilian casualties caused by American drone strikes, the president dropped a wokescreen by reminding everyone that his secretary of defense was the first woman to hold that cabinet position.
