1. When a radio DJ records his breaks in advance or from a far-away place yet tries to make you believe he or she is live in the studio.

2. When an employee at a radio station is gone from his office, desk, or cubicle for an extended period of time without giving a reason in advance.

3. (Used in radio/TV industry) Doing less than a good job; phoning it in.
"You can tell he's voice tracking - he's predicting a sunny day when it's obviously going to rain."

"Where's John? Oh, he must be voice tracking."

"Shirley looks bored" "She's voice tracking today"

"How can Ryan Seacrest be on in your city when he's live here in L.A. every morning?" "Voice tracking."
