Save the World Syndrome

A strange phenomenon experienced by several games from 2017-present where the original game is surpassed in popularity by a battle royale spin-off or gamemode occurring in the same game or universe. The name 'Save the World Syndrome' comes from Fortnite: Save the World, a PvE shooter created by Epic Games.
