These are kids who's social life in elementary school revolved around pokemon i.e. trading pokemon cards etc. Once in middle school they continued because they are lagging behind in maturity. It is also a politically correct way of calling a kid a nerd in middle school.

John is such a pokemon kid, he wore a dinosaur tee shirt to the sixth grade social.

A kid who plays Pokemon Go and keeps asking if you play Pokemon Go.

Me:*Walking by with my phone in my hand*

Kid: Are you playing Pokémon GO?

Me: Oh god! Not another Pokemon Go kid.
