The deliberate killing of young people and future generations. Primarily used in the context of inaction on climate change and global warming by the fossil fuel industry, politicians, and governments.
Coined by Peter Kalmus, a climate scientist and author of Being the Change: Live Well and Spark a Climate Revolution, in a Guardian article from November 2021.
For over 50 years, the fossil fuel industry has actively suppressed the truth about global warming; knowingly committing neocide. They knew that fossil fuels would lead to catastrophic global heating which would be especially destructive to young people and future generations.
The act of willingly sacrificing future generations for current convenience.
The politicians that continue to give oil companies financial subsidies, the people that let their car idle when parked and the homeowners that run their AC on max knowing that we are facing a climate crisis which we are running out of time to solve, are all committing nepocide.
A small piece of information. Derived from the word ken, used often in the scottish language and is synonymous with knowledge.

Person 2: "I got that one. Give me some kenlets on this assignment and I'll help you w/ that one."
