micro-gambling

A slang word used to describe shady business practices where a game developer or similar company uses randomized packages, also known as "loot boxes", to offer some part of the game back to the player or consumer, typically with a way to spend real world money to purchase said packages.
EA has added micro-gambling to it's new game Star Wars Battlefront 2.
