n. A Tagalog word which translates to "struggle and revolution" that is now used regularly in the Filipino American community as a word of empowerment.

adj. Someone who can be described as an activist in the Filipino American community. Sometimes viewed as militant and ethnocentric.
When I went to the protest, you could feel the makibaka in the air.
