Disengaging from the Internet via the deletion of all your publicly available information.

Just yesterday, I took a screenshot of the title page of Dive Into HTML5 to include in a presentation as a highly recommended resource. Now it’s gone. That site, along with all the other “Dive Into…” sites and addictionis.org, is returning an HTTP “410 Gone” message.

Mark’s Github, Google+, Reddit, and Twitter accounts have all been deleted. And attempts to email him have been bounced back.

This is very reminiscent of Why the Lucky Stiff’s infosuicide, and it’s honestly shocking.

Idiosuicide

The act of committing suicide unintentionally due to ones own stupidity.

RDJ - "Whats a good word to describe the acts of idiots who do epic stupid shit that results in them killing themselves?"
Me - "Oh, you mean idiosuicide!"
RDJ - "But can you use it in a sentence?"
Me - "Yeah, That dumbass was trying to commit idiosuicide when she start fucking with that crazy bitch with the shovel."

informicide

When someone communicates in a way that actively reduces the amount of information in existence.

Usually occurs when a person talks for a long time, uses many words, and yet leaves everyone else knowing less than they did before the speaking began.

Unlike misinformation, nothing said has to be wrong; it just erases understanding.

Commonly observed in meetings, presentations, emails, and “quick explanations”.

“Ten slides, thirty minutes, zero clarity. Absolute informicide.”
