groovitas

An unlikely blending of the words gravitas and groovy. They are opposites in some ways, and thus the tension and humour. Gravitas is straight, serious, weighty and is in contemporary use, while groovy references '60's counter-culture, inspired by notions of peace and love, music and drugs. It offers props to someone or something from that generation.
Did you listen to that wonderful tribute to The Doors on NPR? Yeah, it had groovitas.
