groovitas

An unlikely blending of the words gravitas and groovy. They are opposites in some ways, and thus the tension and humour. Gravitas is straight, serious, weighty and is in contemporary use, while groovy references '60's counter-culture, inspired by notions of peace and love, music and drugs. It offers props to someone or something from that generation.
Did you listen to that wonderful tribute to The Doors on NPR? Yeah, it had groovitas.

groovetational

Adjective. A word hybrid between groovy and 'non-confrontational', usually uttered as an expression when one slightly beyond cool and slightly below 'infinitely freaking spectacular' is required.

It is worth noting that while this term is altogether suitable for colloquial and 'feigning interest' uses, it is unsuitable for sarcasm because it invariably sounds sincere. No, really.
Bob: Check out this Flash movie, Dave!
Dave: Hot shizz Bob, that's flippin' groovetational!

Groovity

The force of funktraction between all basses in the universe, especially the funktraction of the earth's bass for bodies near its surface.
"The more remote the body the less the groovity"; "the groovitation between two bodies is proportional to the product of their basses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them"; "groovitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love"--Albert Einstein

More from Urban Dictionary
West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead. The term never found favour with readers of 'the inkies' (Sounds, Melody Maker and the still extant NME) and was soon dropped. Now often used in predominantly working-class areas of the midlands and the north to mean someone who listens to rock-derived music and/or dresses in a manner that suggests they affiliate themselves with rock music of some kind.
