girlfriendly, n. a relationship with a girl characterized as more than fuck buddy, less than girlfriend.

Why does every woman in my life start out as a hook-up, turn into a girlfriendly, progress to girlfriend, and then eventually end up as best friend? Why can't I go from stage one to stage three and stop there?
