a vanguard of hard-working individuals who, by formation and collaboration, produce prolific or significant contributions to art and society that far surpass what could be achieved individually.

Though of limited resource, intelligence, or station, the diligentsia of this small farming town ultimately prevailed in transforming several hundred acres of their farmland into a massive sports complex and international airport terminal.
