2. Arty geeks, as distinct from technorati or tech-head geeks like script kiddies.

Singular form: digiterat. Cf. technorat.

Joe's one of the technorati - he dreams about scripts to bulk change Unix permissions. But the digiterati are people like Mary. She's so cool she uses her iPhone to photograph a politician giving a speech, downloads and runs an app to morph it into a damaging caricature, and uploads it to Wikileaks before he's finished talking - all while tweeting about it and drinking a chai latte.

A portmanteau of the words digital and penetralia. Digitralia is the creeped out feeling you get when your innermost thoughts or recent conversations come back to you in the form of ads on social media or other websites and apps.

Man I was just talking about jelly beans and I keep seeing ads for them on Instagram, total digitralia.

Person 1: "Hey, did you get that hilarious text message I sent you yesterday afternoon?"

Person 2: "Oh, that was a joke? I thought you were serious!"

Person 1: "Man, I hate it when my sharp wit gets lost in digitisation!"

digerati 

Who are the "digerati" and why are they "the cyber elite"? They are the doers, thinkers, and writers who have tremendous influence on the emerging communication revolution. They are not on the frontier, they are the frontier.

The digerati evangelize, connect people, adapt quickly. They like to talk with their peers because it forces them to go to the top of their form and explain their most interesting new ideas. They give each other permission to be great. That's who they want to talk to about the things they are excited about because they want to see if it plays. They ask each other the questions they are asking themselves, and that's part of what makes this cyber elite work.

He thinks he's one of the digerati becaus he had a blog in 1997!
