A poor cut of beef from the rear of the cow, like sirloin or round, typically found at very affordable prices. Usually needs marinade or heavy seasoning to be pleasant to eat.

I sent my wife with a twenty to get some T-bone steak at the grocery store, but she came back with ass-steak.
